A'Tarion Key'won Spates' Obituary
A'Tarion Key'won Spates, 20, of Waterloo, Iowa crossed over to greet the Lord on July 6, 2025 at his home. He was born June 26th, 2005 in Waterloo, Iowa. He was the son of DaTarius Spates and Tequilla Holmes.
A'Tarion graduated from East High School, in Waterloo in 2023. He was employed at John Deere.
A'Tarion is survived by his father, DaTarius Spates (Rocheca); his mother, Tequila Holmes (Dameetrees Harrington); his brothers, Tarshaun and DaTarius Junior, both of Waterloo, and A'milan Holmes and A'mareeonte Holmes, both of New York; his sisters, Tulyiah Fraizer, Tulani Gullium, and Datarnijha Spates; his paternal grandparent, Charles Ray; stepmother, Jenny; three cousins/ brothers, DaQuavious Spates, Andrew Spates lll, and DeAndrew Spates; his nephews, Jalen and Jallane of Waterloo; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Rosie Spates; maternal grandmother, Magnolia Holmes; and a host of aunts and uncles.
A'Tarion enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his nephews. He enjoyed listening to music and playing sports. A'Tarion played football and basketball and ran track and field for Waterloo East. He also enjoyed volunteering. The devastating loss of A'Tarion will forever be felt in our hearts.
