Timothy C. Hodges' Obituary
Timothy C. Hodges gained his wings on December 2, 2024, at home. He was born February 28, 1939, in Madison, Arkansas.
He was baptized at an early age at St. John Baptist Church in Madison. He attended Lincoln High School in Forrest City, Arkansas.
Timothy then met and soon married the woman of his life, Dale Ruth Collins Hodges, who he called “Chocolate Doll”. Looking for a better life, he and his family moved to Waterloo, Iowa. He worked at John Deere for 30 years until he retired.
Timothy was a faithful member of Union Missionary Baptist Church (until his health declined). He was a devoted trustee. He served on the Usher Board and sang with the Male Chorus. He loved singing and was a great leader. Leading “Lord Today” and “Jesus Cares”, just to name a couple. Singing and listening to good gospel music was his passion. He also loved reading his Bible. Everywhere he went, he shared God’s word. Bro. Tim loved his family so much that he wanted nothing but the best for them. He enjoyed the big family gatherings. That would just make his day. Mr. Tim Hodges will truly be missed, but his legacy will live on forever.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 65 years, Dale Ruth Hodges; 10 children – four sons, Timothy (Lori) Hodges Jr. and Wayman Hodges, both of Waterloo, DeWayne (Rita) Hodges of Minnesota, and Carl (Denise) Hodges of Des Moines, Iowa and six daughters, Diane Eldridge Rucker of St. Louis, Missouri, Stephanie (Steve) Thomas, Denise (Lewis) Aldridge, and Jennifer (Mark) Burt, all of Waterloo, Paula (Terry) Hodges of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Doris (Orlando) Hodges Moore of Des Moines. He also leaves behind 64 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, one sister, Lillian Miller of Waterloo; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Lee Bertha Jackson Hodges; two grandchildren, Cortrail Hodges and Jeremiah Stacy Eldridge; and seven siblings, Darcas Hodges, Augusta Hodges Walker, Alton Hodges Jr., Betty J. Montgomery, Bobby Hodges, Verdella Wooten, and Westley Curtis Hodges.
Memorials may be directed to the family at 1823 Patton Avenue, Waterloo, Iowa 50702.
