Tracey DeAnn Harrington's Obituary
A precious one from us is gone,
A voice we love is stilled.
A place is vacant in our home
Which never can be filled,
And after lonely heartache,
And many silent tears,
But always a beautiful memory
Of one we loved so dear.
Tracey DeAnn Harrington was born on February 24, 1966 in Iowa City, Iowa to Elnora Parsons and the late Larry Baker. She accepted Christ at an early age and lived her life guided by faith, love, and service to others.
A proud graduate of East High School, Class of 1984, Tracey devoted over 30 years of service as a Head Cook at the University of Northern Iowa, where she was known for her dedication, reliability, and strong work ethic. In addition to her full-time career, she worked part-time for more than 30 years at Corky’s Red Carpet Golf Course, where she was valued and respected by coworkers and patrons alike.
Cooking was Tracey’s greatest passion. She especially loved grilling, and her smoked turkey was a favorite among family and friends. She also enjoyed singing and spending time with loved ones. Tracey had a warm heart, a giving spirit, and a smile that could brighten any room. She never hesitated to share her love.
Tracey was preceded in death by her son, Michael Anderson; her father, Larry Baker; her sister, Thyanna Parsons; and her grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Mechelle Anderson of North Carolina; her son, Mitchel Anderson; her loving mother, Elnora Parsons of Waterloo, Iowa; her four beloved grandchildren, Michael Anderson, Mekhi Reed, Maliyah Anderson, and Meila Norman; her five brothers, Howard Parsons, Travis Newman, Roy Baker, and Justin Baker, all of Waterloo, and Larry Baker; her sisters, Shayla Parsons of Waterloo, Chaniece Parsons, Keisha Parsons of Mississippi, LaTonya Gantt and Chantel Stevens of Las Vegas, Nevada, Markee Baker Drayton of Marion, Iowa, and Hollee Baker; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Tracey DeAnn Harrington will be forever remembered for her faith, her love of cooking, her dedication to her work, and the deep love she had for her family and friends. Her legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Memorials may be delivered to the family at 424 Lane Street, Waterloo, Iowa 50703.
