Vinneator (Squeaky) Washington's Obituary
Vinneator Terrell Washington, better known as “Squeaky”, was an amazing woman. She was born on April 16, 1970 in Waterloo, Iowa to Mary Lee “Bird” and Percy Bruce Sr. Squeaky was called to glory on October 8, 2025 at Allen UnityPoint.
Squeaky graduated from Central High School in 1988. She later attended La James College of Hair Design to follow her passion for styling hair. On February 11, 2001, Squeaky married Dentonious “Neal” Washington Sr.; she later divorced. From this union four beautiful souls were created. Squeaky also became the Bonus Mom of Neil’s eldest daughter, Taye, who preceded her in death. Her children were her second most important part of her life, with her Grandbabies being the first.
Squeaky had a bright spirit and gentle soul. Always wore a big smile no matter what, showing off those pearly white teeth. She had an unmatched energy that would turn any bad mood into a good one. She had a knack for making people laugh; even if it was at her own expense, she was going to make you laugh. Squeaky was an unselfish person, always looking out for others. Anyone who knew her knew there were two things she didn’t play about: her family, and her clothes. Squeaky was a true Diva. As the young people would say, “She knew how to put that stuff on.” She was a loyal friend to all. Always lending an ear and giving advice, even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear. She would often quote, “I’m just keeping it real.”
Squeaky leaves behind to mourn her passing her four children, Via'Lesha Phillip, De'Cori Washington, Dentonious Washington Jr., and De'Quann Washington, all of Waterloo; her seven grandchildren, La'Tayevion Crockett, Jamarreyah Putman, Nhy'Zae Burt, Dai'Veon Miles, Zy'Mir Washington, Amira Miles, and Nhy'Lah Burt, all of Waterloo; her siblings, Tammy (Percy) Holmes, Gwynette “Granny” Wright, Kendrick “KB” Bruce, and Percy “Worm” Bruce Jr., all of Waterloo; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Lee “Bird” and Percy Bruce Sr.; a daughter, Taye Doss; her maternal grandmother, Alice “AD” Pegees; and her paternal grandparents, John Marshall and Earlist Weems-Bruce.
Even though her life was cut short at the young age of 55, Squeaky walked through life with a purpose, always looking for the good in others and spreading love wherever she went. She touched so many people’s lives. She leaves behind a remarkable legacy filled with kindness and strength, two of her greatest traits. Auntie Squeaky, we love you and will miss you so much.
