Reverend Warren Theo Thomas, Sr.'s Obituary
Husband, Father, Grandfather, Preacher
Warren Theo Thomas, Sr. passed away, on October 18, 2024 at 9:15 AM with his wife by his side.
He lived striving to love and spread the Word of God, serving others, and loving his wife and family.
The third child of Earlie, Jr. and Lil Sue (Green) Thomas, he was born on April 26, 1955 in Franklin, Louisiana. At the age of three, his family moved to Waterloo, Iowa.
He attended elementary and middle school in the Waterloo Public Schools and graduated from East High School in 1974.
He is most widely known by his middle name, Theo. He loved family. He had an infectious smile and sense of humor! He was the BEST uncle to his nieces and nephews.
He was determined to make homemade ice cream. The taste was amazing (the consistency was hit and miss)! He had an early appreciation for cars, body-building, good music, and photography. He took excellent care of his cars, excelled in building his muscles, his music collection would be worth thousands, and he grew proficient as a photographer.
Theo joyfully married his bride, Sheila (Gray), April 28, 1984 in Waterloo. She was the love of his life. To their union God blessed them with two sons, Eugene Thomas and Warren Theo “Tee” Thomas, II; and two daughters, Erin Thomas and Rachael Thomas.
He was born again in his mid-twenties and announced a calling to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ in 1984.
Rev. Warren T. Thomas pastored Grace Chapel in Waterloo, Iowa. In those years, he traveled and preached all over the United States, as well as organized the Word Explosion Faith Conference for many years.
Warren is survived by his wife of 40 years; all of his children; one granddaughter, Maia Grace Thomas; his Sister, Julie Ann Thomas-Dennis; one uncle, Sam (Linda) Thomas; five aunts, Maggie (Joel) Elliot, Ada (Garland) Osbourne, Rose (Rev. William) Perkins, Caroline Loveless, and Ella Thomas; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earlie Thomas, Jr.; Mother, Lil Sue Thomas; and Brother, Rev. Darnell Thomas.
